I’ve been reinventing myself since childhood…

I’ve been reinventing myself since childhood, as my family came to live in Australia from Scotland at aged six, returned to Scotland and then settled in Australia. I went to seven different schools and became accustomed to connecting with new environments and people.

With a passion for dance, I danced into my teens and performed in a dance troupe semi-professionally (we were paid just enough to keep us in tights and dance shoes). Returning to dance in my fifties feels like coming home - aah!

Professionally, I’m qualified as a registered career practitioner, assisting adults with their career direction, transition and reinvention often in times of personal change. Founding Career Wisdom in 2005, it has been my great privilege to help people with such a big part of their lives - their work, assisting them to identify a way forward with confidence. I published my first book ‘Make Your Move’ to help people with the practical steps to navigating change in their working lives.

Prior to a career change towards career counselling and coaching, I had a career in corporate and client relations. I’ve also worked as a State Manager of a non profit, in higher education, and as a career advisor with professional rugby players, ballet dancers, and young people with cancer. I also now blend my 50-plus years on the planet with my career development experience to assist people to find their ‘next’ - their life direction and purpose. I call it their ‘Personal Renaissance’.

I have always loved hearing people’s stories as well as their dreams for the future. I especially enjoy helping them to envision a new future, particularly where there is confusion, a lack of clarity or obstacles appearing in the way. This also applies to people as they enter mid-life and beyond who may start to question ‘who am I now?’ and ‘what’s next for me?’ It is my honour and privilege to walk alongside, and help them discover and create their own personal renaissance, including picking up long-lost passions or discovering new ones.

Continuing my own lifelong learning journey, I’ve added to my Masters degree in Career Development with a Practitioner Certificate in Meaning and Purpose and am continually learning all things digital and creative. In 2022 I returned to dance on the stage, after a 36-year hiatus!

Some of my favourite things..? Dogs, dance and chocolate almonds. Oh, and I’m also slightly obsessed with cherry blossoms (sakura). I love living on Noongar Boodjar in Perth, Western Australia with my husband, daughter and pup.

I look forward to connecting and hearing your story…
